GP146/440
The antenna showed up today and looks/works FB. I previously owned the "old style" GP146 where the ends of the radials were threaded and nuts
would attach them to the mounting plate. The newer version with the "sandwich plate" looks much nicer and allows for easier attachment of
the coax to the antenna. The added J-Pole element for 440 is the icing on the cake. I'm glad to see Arrow Antenna is constantly focused on
product refinement / improvement.
When I first set the antenna up the SWR was <2:1 across the entire VHF spectrum. Would you believe this bonehead Extra put the white washer on
the wrong side, eliminating continuity between the coax shield and the radials? I guess it would've helped to read the manual. :-) After
correcting my blunder the SWR was approx 1.2:1 from 146-148MHz when the antenna was temporarily set up on my patio. To say I'm very happy with
the looks, durability, and performance of the GP146/440 would be an understatement.
The only real glitch I ran into (besides failing to read the manual) was fitting my PL259 into the antenna's SO239. It's a tight fit! Have you
considered looking into an alternate vendor for the center connectors?
Thanks again for a great antenna and extremely timely shipment - I can't wait to order from you again sometime.
